Esqina Urban Lodge – a new hotel concept implemented downtown Lisbon.

The Esqina Urban Lodge represents an innovative hospitality concept, located in the heart of Lisbon’s Baixa district, one of the city’s most iconic and historic areas. This project was brought to life through the careful rehabilitation of a Pombaline building, preserving its historical and architectural value, while converting it into a modern and welcoming space, featuring 33 beautifully designed suites.

The renovation involved a thorough restoration of the building, respecting the unique characteristics of Pombaline architecture, known for its classic and symbolic elements such as high ceilings, traditional tiles, and solid wooden structures. Preserving these details was a central focus of the project, seamlessly blending the old with the contemporary needs of comfort and functionality.

One of the key structural changes was the introduction of an elevator core, an essential addition to ensure accessibility and convenience for guests. This enhancement was discreetly integrated, maintaining the authenticity of the original building. Additionally, all architectural finishes were executed with great precision, using high-quality materials and featuring a modern and sophisticated interior design that reflects the vibrant spirit of the city.

The project also included the implementation of special technical installations, encompassing the modernization of electrical, climate control, and safety systems, all adapted to the highest standards of efficiency and comfort. These upgrades were crucial in creating a high-quality hospitality experience where the historical charm of the building coexists with cutting-edge technology.
