With a duration of just 7 months, this project aimed to rehabilitate and renovate the former facilities of the Faculty of Engineering, located near Tagus Park in Sintra. The design was developed to provide all the technical conditions necessary for the implementation of the Medicine Course at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP).
The undertaking involved a complete renovation of the existing building, covering all four floors, the roof, the facades, and the outdoor areas. This intervention resulted in the creation and modernization of several essential spaces for the operation of the Faculdade de Medicina UCP, including modern classrooms, equipped examination rooms, high-capacity auditoriums, and skills labs for students’ practical development. Additionally, an anatomy zone, research rooms, a biotery, individual and collaborative study spaces, a well-equipped library, a chapel, administrative areas, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a bar, and appropriate parking were also created.
All spaces were designed and equipped with state-of-the-art technical infrastructure, ensuring an environment conducive to teaching and learning in the new medical course. The renovation not only enhances the quality of the physical space but also reflects the Faculdade de Medicina UCP‘s commitment to educational excellence and the training of highly qualified professionals in the health field.
With this investment, the Faculdade de Medicina UCP positions itself as a reference in medical training, offering a modernized space that not only meets academic demands but also provides an enriching experience for students, professors, and health professionals, promoting the integration of theory and practice.
