Ethics Channel

Questions and Answers

1. What is the Whistleblowing Channel?

The Whistleblowing Channel, also referred to as the Ethics Line, is a secure, independent, and impartial communication channel managed by BDO Portugal. It is available for reporting observed or suspected situations that breach legal or internal regulations.

It is important to note that, if you prefer, you can submit your report anonymously. However, if you choose to disclose your identity, it will be treated with complete confidentiality, ensuring your safety and protecting you from any form of retaliation by the organisation.

Irregularities are considered to be acts or omissions, whether intentional or negligent, attributed to the conduct of Employees, Workers, or members of the Management Bodies of BDO Portugal, provided they affect an individual or the organisation. These include any unethical or unlawful behaviour, such as breaches of the values or ethical standards outlined in the Code of Conduct, as well as violations of policies and manuals currently in force within the organisation.

This platform is available for reporting complaints/irregularities at any time, 7 days a week.

It is crucial that you provide all possible information and details in your report to allow for a thorough investigation of the facts.

Therefore, we ask that you provide at least the following information:

  • The type of event to report;
  • A brief description of the facts supporting the reported irregularity;
  • Whether the reported situation was observed, witnessed, or suspected;
  • Whether the reported situation is ongoing;
  • Whether you have any supporting documents related to the identified irregularity, which you can attach to the report (e.g., photos, reports, etc.); and
  • Identify the relationship of the individual responsible for the irregularity with our organisation.

No. The Whistleblowing Channel has been developed to ensure the complete security of your data when submitting reports. In this regard, internal control mechanisms have been implemented to prevent your report from being directed to employees involved in the reported situation.

Furthermore, your identification details, when provided, are fully protected. If you prefer not to provide them, the reported facts will be investigated while preserving your anonymity.

Upon completing the submission of a report, an access code will be automatically assigned, allowing you to track the progress of your report.

It is important to note that, without the access code, you will not be able to access or track the progress of the submitted report. Make sure to store the code in a safe place.
